About this tool
A QR code turns information like a URL or contact into a black-and-white pattern that a phone camera can read instantly. This tool generates a QR code from your text on the spot, with adjustable colors and error-correction level. Generation happens entirely in your browser; your input is never sent anywhere.
Choosing the error-correction level (L, M, Q, H)
QR codes include "error correction" so they still scan even when partly dirty or covered. There are four levels; a higher level restores more but makes the code denser for the same amount of data.
- L (~7% recovery) β for clean environments like on-screen display; produces the simplest code.
- M (~15%) β a balanced choice for general use. When in doubt, pick this.
- Q (~25%) β when some smudging or wear is expected.
- H (~30%) β for harsh conditions: printed and posted outdoors, or with a logo overlaid in the center.
Tips for easy scanning
- Do not cram in too much β a long URL makes the code dense and hard to read; consider a short URL.
- Keep good contrast β dark foreground on a light background is the norm. Inverting it (light foreground, dark background) fails on some devices.
- Leave a quiet zone β without blank space around the code it is harder to detect.
- Print large enough β the farther the scan distance, the bigger it needs to be. Too small and it fails.
Always test the generated code
Before printing, posting, or distributing, always confirm it scans on several phones. Especially with custom colors or an overlaid logo, even level H can become unreadable.

Is my input sent anywhere?
No. QR generation happens entirely in your browser; the URL or text you enter is never sent to a server.
How do I pick an error-correction level?
For on-screen use with low damage risk, L/M is fine; for print or outdoor signage that can get scratched, Q/H is better. Higher levels recover more but make the code denser.
Will it still scan if I change the colors?
Yes, as long as there is enough contrast between foreground and background. Low contrast tends to fail, so this tool warns you when contrast is too low.
Should I choose PNG or SVG?
SVG (vector) stays sharp when scaled or printed; PNG is convenient for embedding on the web. Choose based on your use case.
Is there a length limit?
QR codes have a capacity limit, so very long text may fail to generate. Shorten URLs or keep the content minimal.
