Typing Speed Test
Type the shown sentence to measure your typing speed (WPM) and accuracy.
About this tool
This typing speed test measures your typing speed (WPM) and accuracy as you type out a shown sentence. A prompt sentence appears, and as you type it, the characters you get right and wrong are highlighted in real time. When you finish, your speed and accuracy are shown as numbers β handy when you want an objective read on your ability.
WPM (words per minute) is a measure of how many words you type per minute. Following the common convention, this tool counts "5 characters as one word" and calculates from the number of correctly typed characters. Accuracy is the share of your typed characters that were correct. Seeing both speed and accuracy together helps you practice getting faster while making fewer mistakes.
Timing starts when you begin pressing keys, and WPM is computed from your actual typing time. Prompts include English pangrams (short sentences containing every letter), so you can retry repeatedly and watch your records change. It works as a fun warm-up or quick skill check.
Everything runs in your browser, so what you type is never sent externally. Results are simply shown on the spot and are not saved or transmitted anywhere. Feel free to try as many times as you like and gauge your daily form.
How to use
- Type the shown sentence into the field below.
- The timer starts on your first keystroke; WPM and accuracy update live.

FAQ
How is WPM calculated?
Following the common convention, it counts "5 characters as one word" and divides the number of correctly typed characters by your actual typing time in minutes. More correct characters and faster typing both raise your WPM.
How is accuracy determined?
It is the share of your typed characters that matched the prompt. Mistakes lower accuracy, so you can practice balancing speed against precision.
When does timing start?
Timing begins the moment you start pressing keys, and WPM is computed from the time actually spent. Just displaying the prompt does not advance the clock.
What kind of sentences are shown?
English pangrams and similar short sentences containing every letter of the alphabet. You can retry repeatedly to track how your records change.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser, and neither your input nor the results are sent externally. Results are only shown on the spot.
Can it measure Japanese typing speed?
The prompts are in English, so it is suited to measuring input speed on an English keyboard. Note that speeds involving Japanese kana-to-kanji conversion are measured under different assumptions.
