Image Cropper
Crop images in your browser. Drag to select, aspect-ratio presets, no upload.
No upload, no data sent β everything runs in your browser.
About this tool
The image cropper cuts out just the part of an image you need. It runs in your browser (canvas) and never uploads your image. Cropping to the ratio your destination expects prevents its auto-crop from ruining your intended framing.
Go-to ratios by use
- 1:1 (square) β social avatars, product thumbnails.
- 16:9 β video thumbnails, slides, YouTube.
- 9:16 (portrait) β Stories and short-video covers.
- 3:2 and 4:3 β general photos and print.
Cropping "throws information away"
Once you crop, the area outside the box is gone and cannot be expanded back later. If you are unsure about the framing, keep the original separately so you can re-crop to a different ratio afterward.
The crop itself does not degrade quality
Cropping alone does not reduce quality. Degradation only comes from compression when you export to JPEG or WebP. Choose PNG when you want to keep transparency.
Works with touch on mobile
You can move the box and resize from the corners by touch, cropping photos taken on your phone on the spot. The crop's pixel dimensions are shown so you can finish at the size you need.
How to use
- Select or drag & drop an image file.
- Drag the box to move it and the corner handles to resize (aspect presets available).
- Choose a format and Download the cropped image.
FAQ
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser (canvas), and the image never leaves your device.
Can I crop with a fixed aspect ratio?
Yes. Choose a preset like 1:1, 4:3, or 16:9 to keep that ratio while adjusting, or use "Free" for any ratio.
Which output formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, and WebP. JPEG and WebP let you adjust quality (compression).
Does quality degrade?
The crop itself does not degrade quality. Exporting to JPEG/WebP compresses according to the chosen quality. Choose PNG to preserve transparency.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. You can move and resize the box with touch and crop photos directly on your phone.
Can it crop animated GIFs?
It crops a still image. Animation is not preserved; a single frame is exported.
