How the AI runs in your browser
The cutout uses an AI model called MODNet, and its inference runs inside your browser. The model is served from this site and executed on your device, so the photo itself never leaves your machine. Because of this, only the first load spends a moment fetching the model, and subsequent images process quickly.

FAQ
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model runs inside your browser and images are never sent off your device. The model data is served from this site and executed locally, so the photo itself is not uploaded and your privacy is preserved.
What format is the output?
A PNG with a transparent background. PNG supports transparency (an alpha channel), so the cut-out subject can be composited cleanly over any other background or document. JPEG cannot hold transparency and is therefore not used for output.
Why does it show a loading state at first?
It is preparing the AI model used for cutting out the subject when the page opens. The first download can take a while, but subsequent images process quickly. Image selection is temporarily disabled while the model loads.
Does it handle fine details like hair or fur cleanly?
The higher the contrast between subject and background, the cleaner the cutout. Fine strands and areas close in color to the background may have fuzzy edges. Bright photos with a simple background yield the best accuracy.
Is there a limit on image count or size?
Processing happens within your device performance and memory. Very large images may be slow or heavy, so resizing beforehand can help if needed.
Can I use it offline?
Once the model has loaded, the processing itself completes on your device. However, the initial model download requires a network connection, so at least the first load needs to be online.
